Hi, I'm Heidi Schreiner, Landscape Designer

As a landscape designer, I want you to love your garden. When you see your design, I want you to be as excited as I am. Fall in love with your garden again.

You may have been reading some of the articles on the site and been inspired (I hope so!). You might also have realized the amount of information that I consider when I design. What you see here is just a fraction of that.

I think it's interesting how the events in my life have led me here -- to work as a garden designer. Some of it is self-taught, some education, and some experience. Truthfully, I love my work. It's like living artwork that impacts your life, changing over time.

When I was small, my mother let me plant my own flower in her garden. I still remember the feeling -- I wanted more! Ok, not the weeding part. Still, plants have their own special beauty. I knew I'd love to have a job that used the beauty of flowers.

Through my education in the Civil Engineering program at our local technical college, I've learned not only advanced drafting and surveying, but also planning and layout for kitchens and homes.

If you've ever lived in a space that was effortless to live in, you know why I love to be able to design gardens that function well. My education in Civil Engineering was just the beginning, but understanding a home's layout still plays a part in my work today. Just ask about outdoor kitchens, and you'll know what I mean!

Throughout my life, art has been my passion. If I'm not drawing or painting, I'm crafting jewelry or reading about artwork. So, in 1997 when I had the opportunity to work with Get Creative as a landscape designer, I jumped at the chance. I poured over anything about design. I quizzed our local nurseries (still do). Any new plant or design tip, I snatched up.

Lakeshore buffer zones, commercial properties, condos, historical properties, family pool areas, … I’ve designed many types of landscapes and gardens. Each one has it’s own rewards and challenges.

In the last few years, I've trained at the Anna Gresham School of Landscape Design. Although I had quite a bit of background prior to undertaking this, it wasn't an easy course. Still, I knew what I wanted -- to be a designer that could create unique, beautiful, custom spaces that reflect the owner's lives and space in the world.

My degree in Civil Engineering, my Garden Design education at Anna Gresham School of Landscape Design and years and years of 'in the field' experience all bring me where I am today. A designer trained and experienced to ensure that your gardens are one of a kind and amazing.

If you’re ready to transform your outdoor space, call me. I would look forward to meeting you. Consultations are available as well as fully computerized design and installation.

Get Design. Get Flowers. Get Inspired. Get Creative!
